About

How It Started!

Hey there,
I  am so grateful for your time and I can't wait to share my incredible story with you!

I am a young teenage boy who started this business all on my own at 16 years old. I love working with my hands to design, create, and build my ideas to life. My goal has always been to create high quality stylish products that make a positive impact on others. I especially love getting to create products that show, spread, and encourage others in faith. I can't give anyone else but God credit for giving me the talents and abilities I have used to create my business and products. My business takes my faith, love, and passions to combine them into something I enjoy doing every minute!

I first started making signs for around our house for my Mom. Many other people liked my work so family and friends began asking me to build things for them. Then, before I knew it I had decided to open an Etsy shop to spread my work with others around the USA.

Going back to when I created my Etsy shop it took some time thinking of a name for my business. Thanks to my Dad's brilliant idea of TextOnTimber, I immediately knew that was the perfect name since I essentially put Text-On-Timber. I can't just give Dad credit though, Mom was a huge help with helping me paint, taking me to get lumber, and taking me to drop my boxes off at the post office before I could drive. My aunt Angie was also a huge inspiration into my business. She taught me how to first use a Cricut Cutting Machine while creating a sticker for our boat. She also let me have her Cricut until I made enough money to purchase a brand new one! I couldn't be where I am today without any of these people's help.

Looking back, I will never forget the day I opened my Etsy shop and was eager for an order. It took about a week of waiting and I got my first order. Then before I knew it, I was getting orders like crazy but I enjoyed every minute of it. I learned as I went and taught myself new techniques along the way. After the first year of having my shop open, I ended up with a solid 411 orders through Etsy and couldn't have been any more proud.

Late 2023, My business continued to grow and become more well known locally. I started to expand and grow in the community after doing more advertising with social media and a local craft show that November. I also took an exciting big step forward that would allow me to take my products to a whole new level and offer new, never before things! This all started by working with Sunshine Boutique in Fort Recovery, OH apart of the Jake David line. The owner and a good friend of ours had asked to have several "Pray Big" signs made that would be apart of the special brand she created in memory of her son. I knew I couldn't just do these signs normally though, I was DETERMINED to make these signs SHINE and be so special! I went BIG and purchased a Glowforge Laser Machine. I used this because I wanted to make the lettering standout on these signs instead of just being my normal painted on. The 3D lettering was so crisp, unique, and sharp! This really made the signs so special for this special family friend of ours and her brand! I was so honored to have this privilege to get to do this project as her son was also a very close friend! I now can't wait to fully get all of my signs transitioned over to the 3D lettering, I LOVE IT!

I am so beyond blessed with how my business has grown and impacted others. I am excited to see what it has in store for on down the road. I hope to see your name on my order list soon and I guarantee you'll love whatever you buy from TextOnTimber. I put every effort into all my orders making them with faith, care, and love. I hope that one day you get to experience how nicely made our products are here at TextOnTimber!

Best Wishes,
Josh Monroe
